Description
This is maintenance and personal services position work is responsible for the inspection, repair, and overall maintenance of several State-owned multi-use recreational trails and the coordination of development and maintenance of county, municipal, and private club-managed motorized recreational trails in an assigned geographical area. Responsibilities include conducting field inspections, trail design/layout, trail planning, contract administration, and overall on-site responsibility for carrying out repair and maintenance projects. Employee supervises trail operations and maintenance; develops interpretive information and programs; educates the public regarding trail rules and regulations; provides accurate reports and information as required; represents the Department’s Off-Road Vehicle Office in the region on Trails Advisory Coalitions, Landowner relations, and Snowmobile/ATV club development; attends Snowmobile & ATV club meetings; directs management on the trails; oversees and acquires local and state building and environmental permits for construction and trail repair; and assists clubs with guidance and the application process for permits and grant applications. Employee performs and coordinates the work of volunteers and contractors in general repair and maintenance of trail infrastructure including (but not limited to) bridges, trails, roads, signage, kiosks, and parking areas as needed. Work is performed under limited supervision. Note: The state provides a Truck, ATV, and Snowmobile for work related activity. Qualifications
- Experience in trail construction and maintenance - Experience with signing trails - Basic carpentry skills - Activity involving public contact - Experience and involvement with non-profit volunteer groups, preferably in ATV and snowmobile clubs. - Basic computer skills - Experience, or willing to learn, using ArcGIS Pro and mobile apps - ATV and Snowmobile riding - 4x4 truck driving - Comfortable working alone in remote areas
