Primary activities include collecting fisheries-dependent and fisheries-independent data to inform population assessments and research that directly inform interagency management. The individual in this position will contribute to the preparation of reports and manuscripts using assessment data; lead efforts to characterize sport and commercial harvest; assist in developing an electronic creel assessment survey; and contribute to assessment and research activities at the Sandusky Fisheries Research Station. Duties to also include: sample processing, data entry, data analysis, data summarization, and facilities management. This individual will assist Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife staff with projects associated with fisheries research and management on Lake Erie. Duties include field and office work and may require working in inclement weather, evenings, and occasional weekends. This is a 2-year position located at the Sandusky Fisheries Research Station, Sandusky, Ohio. This job is funded through Ohio State University but the successful applicant will work with Ohio Division of Wildlife staff on fisheries management projects in the western basin of Lake Erie. Required: Master's degree in the field of biology, environmental sciences, fisheries science, science communication, ecology, a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience; this position requires experience managing and organizing files, data, and research samples. Experience writing and editing reports, papers, proposals, and presentations is required. Experience in a professional setting with good communications skills is required.
