Description
The Champaign County Soil and Water Conservation District is seeking a full time Resource Conservationist to administer and implement soil and water conservation practices in accordance with the goals set by the Champaign County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Directors. The position includes, but is not limited to field investigations, conservation design preparation per established standards, educational activities for youth and adults, grant writing, grant reporting, and coordinating activities among our partners and committees. The successful candidate must be self motivated, organized and able to work independently with strong oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of the SWCD, NRCS and IDOA structure is desirable. Meetings outside of normal business hours are sometimes required. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Employees are given a yearly contract with funding dependent upon government allocations and grants. A valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance are required. Some, mostly local, travel is required and mileage is reimbursed by the employer. Employment is contingent upon receiving a satisfactory score on the United States Department of Agriculture background check. This is necessary for access to the USDA computer network that is used for this position.
