- Description
- The NMSU Jornada Basin Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) Program has funding available for a select number of undergraduate students to complete research projects during the summer of 2023. This funding is provided by the National Science Foundation and is part of the national Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. If selected, students will complete a research project under a mentor and have opportunities for networking, professional development, and field-based experiences. Students will receive a stipend of $8,000 and have the option to stay in free housing on-site. Some remote work may be possible depending on the nature of the project. There are research projects available in wildlife, microbiology, soil science, and much more! A list of available projects are listed on the application.
- Qualifications
- No prior research experience is necessary! We welcome applicants with all levels of experience and value unique personal histories. This program is open to all students from any institution (not just NMSU). The students can be at any level or year in their undergraduate degree. However, the student cannot have already graduated and must be currently enrolled in an institution of higher learning. Students in a 2-year program are welcome to apply.
