CIAA has two openings for Seasonal Assistants for the Hidden Creek Adult Salmon Enumeration project. This site is located in the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge and is accessible by road. The location of hire will be the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Association headquarters building in Kenai, Alaska. CIAA will provide travel from Kenai to Hidden Creek, as well as a shared (two people) travel trailer for housing, and food for the length of employment.
These positions are expected to start as soon as possible and end September 15, 2017. Length of employment is dependent upon fish returns. If fish are less than predicted, length of employment may be shortened.
These are full-time, temporary, non-exempt positions. Under the direction of the Special Projects Manager, the Seasonal Assistant position will assist with sockeye salmon enumeration and AWL sampling, as well as maintenance of the weir and camp equipment.
$13.00 per hour, overtime eligible.

Must be able to live in remote locations, work outdoors in inclement weather and in harmony with fellow employees, operate fishery sampling gear, and have a knowledge of salmon identification. The use of hand tools, and outdoor skills are required. Familiarity with sampling and data recording techniques is desirable. Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs. Must be willing to work long hours. Current CPR and first aid certifications are required.
