- Description
- This position will work with the Education Manager to develop and implement Audubon’s Rowe Sanctuary crane season and summer programs. During the months of March and April, all programming will focus around the Sandhill Crane migration. Programming includes field trips, crane viewing experiences, and Crane Behavior Basics class. Summer time programming includes multi-day summer camps, field trips, and family programs. Essential Functions • Work collaboratively with education staff to ensure excellence and maintain continuous improvement in programming. • Implement and lead environmental education and outdoor recreation programs for families, adults, and children at Rowe Sanctuary to include all aspects of programming, planning, creating lesson plans, set up and clean up, evaluation, and follow up • Teach and present ideas effectively both orally and in written form. • Work with all ages and abilities. • Organize and manage many different tasks on a day-to-day basis. • Work both as part of a team and independently. • Work odd hours. • CPR and 1st Aid Certification are highly recommended. • Other job-related duties as assigned
- Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, natural sciences or similar program of study preferred. Experience in conducting education programs in nature settings desired. • Individuals must have: o An interest in conservation-focused programming. o A desire to work with children in outdoor settings and share his/her knowledge and enthusiasm about the natural world. o A positive attitude and strong work ethic. o A familiarity with learning theory, current education initiatives and ecological principals. o Age and ability appropriate teaching skills. • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. • Must have knowledge of how to use a computer, calculator, copy machines, telephone, etc. • Must be able to transport, push/pull up to 50 pounds and be willing to work outdoors on all weather conditions.
