- Description
- Midwest Natural Resources (MNR) is seeking applicants for a seasonal field biologist with a wetland or plant ecology focus. This position is field-based and requires extensive travel outside the Twin Cities metro region for extended periods of time throughout the growing season, with all expenses paid by the company. MNR field biologists typically work in teams of two to support projects that may include threatened and endangered species habitat assessments and surveys, rare plant surveys, wetland delineations, post-construction vegetation and wetland monitoring, native prairie mapping and monitoring, comprehensive natural resource inventories, as well as field surveys for habitat management plans.
- Qualifications
- Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Biology, Botany, Ecology, etc.) • At least 2 years of field experience collecting biological data • Coursework in plant taxonomy, botany, and ecology • Strong knowledge of flora of Minnesota and/or surrounding states • Experience using floristic dichotomous keys • Familiarity with accepted plant taxonomy and nomenclature • Working knowledge of ESRI software such as ArcGIS including ArcMap/ArcPro and Field Maps • Experience producing technical reports and documents • Valid driver’s license and a driving record free of accidents and moving violations Preferred Qualifications: • Advanced degree in a relevant field (Biology, Ecology, Botany, etc.) • Proficient with plant identification in a wide variety of plant communities • Knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to threatened and endangered species
