The team member’s primary responsibilities will be to assist ongoing survey efforts to characterize the distribution and habitat use of the Golden-winged Warbler in Harriman and Sterling Forest State Parks. The candidate will work in a team to collect presence/absence data on warblers as well as conduct vegetation monitoring at management locations throughout the parks. Invasive species management within wetland habitat will be conducted and may extend the season. From May 10th to June 15th a typical work day will begin around sunrise and end at 1 PM. At the end of each day, collected data will be entered into Excel. Beyond those dates, work days will be Monday-Friday 8:30AM-4:30PM. Secondary duties may include herbicide application to control terrestrial and wetlands invasive species, sediment elevation table monitoring, management report compilation, and other natural resource based tasks as needed. Local candidates are preferred as housing is not included. The project will be based out of Bear Mountain State Park.
