The Southern Southeast Regional Aquaculture Association (SSRAA) has an opening for 2 Temporary Fish Culturist at the Neets Bay Hatchery. The position has an approximate start date of January 15th and ends late May. The Neets Bay Hatchery is a large, remote, three species salmon hatchery located approximately 30 air miles north of Ketchikan, Alaska. There are approximately 170 million Chum, 4.3 million Coho, and 750,000 Chinook salmon cultured at the Neets Bay facility. Temporary Fish Culturists will perform all duties associated with saltwater/freshwater rearing and outmigration of Chum fry, Coho and Chinook smolt; and aspects of salmon egg incubation. Other duties will include on site cleanup and maintenance. Applicants must be capable of lifting 50lbs repeatedly and be tolerant of foul weather and long work day/weeks. The position requires living on site in a furnished bunkhouse. Provided benefits include but are not limited to: weekly mail and supply flights, telephone, satellite internet, satellite tv and food allowance. Recreational opportunities include hiking, boating, fishing and hunting as time allows.
