•Aid in the restoration and maintenance of tree and shrub plantings, native prairies, wetlands, and woodlands. This includes assisting with prescribed fires and controlling brush and noxious weeds by mowing and spraying herbicides.
•Assist with the maintenance of the unit facilities and repairs to equipment.
•Work to repair damaged dikes and boundary fences, and help with the construction and maintenance of parking lots, access lanes and roads. .
•Trap and band wood ducks, Canada Geese and doves
•Work with volunteers on habitat projects.
•Assist with the establishment of wildlife food plots using agricultural tractors and implements.
•Assist with water level management on wetlands and shallow lakes.
•Aid in the collection of tissue samples from White-tailed deer in the investigation of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD).
* Housing is provided with this position.
•College graduate with a degree in wildlife biology, animal ecology, or another closely related natural resource field.
•Able to withstand physically demanding work, including navigating rough terrain, walking at least 3 miles a day, carrying heavy equipment, frequent lifting, bending, and hauling.
•Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
•Able to travel on overnight duties.
•Work with minimal supervision; demonstrate responsible behavior and attention to detail.
•Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
•Able to work alone or as part of a team, with the public, in all conditions, on weekends, holidays, nights, and evenings as required.
•Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
•Must be available for all interviews and training as required.
•Follow policy and cooperate with supervisors and co-workers.
•Exhibits honesty and integrity.
•Displays a high level of initiative, effort and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
