ECORP Consulting is seeking a senior-level restoration ecologist/botanist to support our southern California service area. Base office would be in either Santa Ana, Redlands, or San Diego. This position involves managing and oversight of habitat restoration and botanical projects that range from small sites to large, complex sites throughout southern California. Duties will include coordinating project tasks on long-term projects to meet cost and schedule objectives; supervising and participating in field and laboratory work; designing and managing wetland, riparian, and upland habitat restoration/creation projects; authoring habitat restoration plans, habitat mitigation and monitoring plans, conceptual restoration plans, and habitat enhancement and management plans; reviewing and editing of botanical sections of biological resources technical reports; supervising the implementation and maintenance of restoration projects; conducting data analysis; conducting statistical analysis; participating in client meetings; and presenting projects with Microsoft PowerPoint.
Other job requirements include developing new business from referrals from new and/or existing clients and assisting with marketing efforts; preparing biological resources proposals and assisting with the preparation of multidisciplinary proposals; assisting the Department Director with supervision and review of department staff members; advising clients and agencies on compliance matters; and training staff in biological resource project/task completion and reviewing work of other team members.
Strong technical writing skills, and familiarity with the most recent plant identification manuals, survey guidelines, and vegetation mapping classification systems are required. Proven experience with writing annual reports and agency coordination in support of mitigation sign-off is preferred. Local or specific experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree; however, a graduate degree in botany, restoration ecology, biology, or related field is preferred. A minimum of 12 years in professional environmental consulting experience and an in-depth knowledge of Southern California flora are required.
