Sapphos Environmental, Inc. is currently recruiting for a full-time Senior Wildlife Biologist to support our outstanding team of professionals in the Pasadena office. The ideal candidate must have supervisory and management experience, the ability to cultivate professional business relationships and be capable of generating new consulting projects for the company. In addition, the ideal candidate will have a professional demeanor; be detail oriented; possess strong organizational skills; have the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in fast-paced environment and be a dedicated team player. Business Development : Develop and maintain professional business relationships, participate in business outreach, locate leads and proposals, and secure contract work.
Supervision and Management : Mentor, manage, and train a staff of biologists, ensure group goals are met within established timelines, review work products, provide guidance on technical projects, ensure staff comply with company policies and procedures.
Project Management : Provide guidance to staff on project management, attend strategic planning sessions with clients, understand and articulate the current status of all group projects..
Input to Environmental Documents : Provide review of work including but not limited to: Status reports, project location, project elements, construction scenario, regulatory framework, existing conditions, significance thresholds, impact analysis, mitigation measures, alternatives analysis, response to comments, habitat restoration/management plans.
Marketing : Provide input to scopes of service, cost estimates, and schedules for letter proposals, sub-contract agreements, scheduling of proposal work and jobs in time management system, provision of input to scopes of service, cost estimates, and schedules for larger proposals.
Research : Must be able to research peer-review professional literature and grey literature. Demonstrate familiarity with wildlife literature and resources related to Southern California, including Endangered and Threatened species.

Master’s degree in Biology, Zoology, Wildlife & Fisheries Biology or other related degree. required with 9+ years of experience in environmental consulting or regulatory agency.
4 + years of supervisory experience.
Proven track record of securing contract work.
Must be knowledgeable of Southern California wildlife and have a basic knowledge of the most common plant communities of southern California.
Must be familiar with the ESA, CEQA and/or NEPA.
Riverside Fairy Shrimp or other Federal 10 (a) permit or California CDFG MOU a plus.
