I am seeking a Research Technician to provide field support for research on snowshoe hares in northeastern Pennsylvania. The primary responsibility is to capture snowshoe hares and fit them with GPS collars to monitor their movements and survival. In addition, this position will collect vegetation data on study areas and enter data into a database and conduct quality control of data entry.
This is a full-tiime position with full benefits (paid time off, holidays, health benefits). Position is funded through 6/30/2022.
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires skill in the capture and handling of live animals, in particular small mammals. Basic knowledge of using database management software (e.g., Microsoft Access) and email is required. Fieldwork occurs in remote locations in extreme weather conditions and requires ability to use of four-wheel-drive vehicles in off-road situations. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
