- Description
- National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA), the nation’s oldest and largest national parks nonprofit advocate is looking for a Director for our Southern Appalachian Landscape Project. Great Smoky Mountains, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Appalachian Trail are the backbone of the broader Southern Appalachian landscape that includes Tribal, public and private lands. This landscape is a global hotspot for biodiversity, but ever-expanding development and climate change are major threats to these resources and their connectivity to the broader landscape. To address these challenges, NPCA’s Southern Appalachian Landscape Project Director will work to expand collaborative conservation efforts in the geography. The Director will focus on furthering existing and building new relationships with community partners with the goal of identifying areas of shared conservation interest and fostering inclusive partnerships to achieve on-the-ground conservation successes. - Qualifications
- -BA or BS degree or equivalent lived or work experience. -Familiarity with the Southern Appalachian landscape including national parks units and national forest lands; -At least 6 years of successful experience working in collaborative conservation; -Demonstrated skill in developing and implementing strategic campaigns; -Proven ability to manage multiple objectives and tasks concurrently; -Strong oral and written communications skills; -Demonstrated skill in working collaboratively in teams to organize tasks, set and observe priorities, facilitate meetings and to maintain schedules; -Proven ability to build respectful, productive relationships with a wide array of people and organizations across political and interest boundaries; -Empathy, compassion, care, and self-awareness.
