- Description
- The position is temporary and full-time (37.5 hours a week). The position starts November 1st and will continue until March 10th. The position dates may be flexible and an option to extend may be plausible. Vehicles will be provided for work-related activities. Housing is provided. Technicians will conduct fieldwork in southern Illinois in a two-county wide area. The technicians will locate and monitor the use of roost and feeding sites along with the interactions of three species of geese (Canada, white-fronted, and snow geese) while also recording weather and environmental conditions into an electronic format.
- Qualifications
- Undergraduates or graduates in Wildlife/Animal Science/Ecology/Biology or related degree programs are encouraged to apply. Preferred candidates will be self-motivated with a strong work ethic and have prior experience working with geese or other birds. Desired qualities for candidates are strong communication, organizational, leadership, and interpersonal abilities. These positions will require long working hours in adverse weather conditions on a flexible schedule. Scheduling throughout the project may also fluctuate. Successful candidates must be proficient in computer software programs such as Excel for data entry and have basic computer skills. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license.
