Description
Summary: We are seeking a Staff Biologist to assist in growing Tetra Tech’s regulatory/permitting capabilities in the Permian Basin. This person will be responsible for a wide variety of environmental field activities including but not limited to wetland/waterbody delineations, threated and endangered species surveys, biological monitoring, as well as offering technical support to other projects performed by the Midland office (i.e., soil and ground water sampling, environmental construction oversite, etc.). Your Role: Wetland and waterbody determination and delineations. Completion of detailed field notes, daily reports, forms and checklists. Performance of threated and endangered species surveys for proposed infrastructure development. Monitoring wildlife during construction of facilities. Health and safety assessments of project sites and teams. Various reporting tasks. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in biology, environmental science, or a related field is required. M.S. in conservation biology or environmental planning is a plus. 1-5 years of construction permitting or regulatory experience is preferred. SafeLand (or related equivalent), 40-hour OSHA – HAZWOPER, H2S awareness, and similar training is preferred. Experience in the oil and gas industry is plus. Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations (TX/NM). Must have demonstrated ability in data collection, analysis, and technical writing. Candidate must also have the ability to manage multiple project tasks simultaneously. Candidate must be highly motivated, customers focused, and work well in a team environment. Must possess personal interaction, communications and organizational skills as well as knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, etc. Some heavy lifting required, and the ability to walk and stand for extended periods is essential. Work will be split between the Midland, TX office and field (no relocation costs will be provided). Field work will primarily be in west Texas and southeast New Mexico; some overnight travel will be required. A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required. Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
