- Student Workers at the Grazingland Animal Nutrition Laboratory, College Station, TX. Start: Fall semester, 2022 Student workers at the Grazingland Animal Nutrition Laboratory (GAN Lab) will perform a variety of tasks associated with delivering nutritional analyses via near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) of fecal samples and providing recommendations to producers via the Nutritional Balance Analyzer (Nutbal) software package. Students will have the opportunity to obtain commercial lab and research skills that are valuable to employers in several agricultural business or natural resources professions. Daily tasks will range from receiving and cataloging samples, to processing and prepping samples for NIRS analysis, to performing NIRS analysis and communicating results to the public or to collaborating scientists. There will also be periodic opportunities to assist with field studies and or trade shows and extension outreach events. Compensation will be $12/hour and work schedules can be flexible around classes.
