This is an ~3-month seasonal position working with Mississippi State University. The aquaculture/behavioral ecology technician will be collecting behavioral data on catfish at our aquaculture facility. Position duties include but are not limited to: 1) tagging catfish with accelerometers, 2) capturing behavioral data using cameras and motion tracking software, and 3) categorizing behavioral data for use in accelerometer validation. Position start date is approximately 15 May 2023 and the position runs until ~ August 15. Start and end dates are flexible.
Bachelor's degree or upper level status in wildlife biology, ecology, or related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates with fisheries, aquaculture, or behavioral ecology experience. Candidates must be able to take detailed notes and follow laboratory protocols. Applicants must be able to facilitate research as part of a team. An excellent work ethic is mandatory.
