Summer technician needed to conduct bat acoustic and some mist-netting (tentative) surveys for bats in Washington, D.C. This work is part of a larger survey of the bat community in the National Capital region. Work will be conducted both during the day and at NIGHT, so hours will vary. Candidate must have own transportation. Housing will NOT be provided. DUTIES: Conduct passive and active acoustical surveys Mist net for bats (tentative) Track bats to roosts with radio-telemetry Collect environmental data at bat roost locations Conduct bat exit roost counts Data entry
QUALIFICATIONS: **Must be vaccinated for rabies **Must have experience handling bats **Must have experience with acoustics Applicants must be able to: Stand for long intervals Hike/walk 1-10 miles a day Carry up to 30 lbs Use hand-held and driving navigational tools Accurately record field data Must have a valid driver’s license Please send resume/CV and 3 references to by April 28, 2021.
