The Saunders Lab is seeking two summer field technicians to assist with a number of forestry research projects focusing on oak regeneration, including helping with vegetation treatments and collecting plot data in southern Indiana. Research will primarily occur at Crane Naval Base and in state forests surrounding Bloomington, IN, including Morgan-Monroe and Yellowwood. The successful applicants will also assist in installing deer fences at Crane Naval Base. Frequent travel to southern Indiana field sites will be required; housing will be provided for overnight trips, and mileage reimbursements are available when university vehicles cannot be used. Hours will be approximately 30-40 per week.
The successful applicant will have at least some coursework in forestry, wildlife management, environmental sciences, or a closely related field (current students are welcome to apply). Experience with chainsaw and/or brushsaw is desired, but not required. Valid driver's license required.
