- The Wildlife Section of the Alabama Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries is pleased to announce the availability of Nine Summer Internship positions for undergraduate students or recent graduates in the Wildlife Ecology and Management Curriculum. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in gaining career related experience while working with a diverse group of wildlife management professionals. Job Title: Summer Intern Agency: Alabama Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Description: Interns will primarily perform field work and land management activities under the supervision of a wildlife biologist on a state operated Wildlife Management Area (WMA) or Special Opportunity Area (SOA). Duties may include activities such as trapping and banding mourning doves and wood ducks; habitat management and manipulation through prescribed fire, bush-hogging, disking, herbicide applications and planting crops; white-tailed deer or wild turkey population censuses; marking timber for commercial sale; alligator population censuses; and other land management duties as assigned.

- Qualifications: • Must hold a valid driver’s license. • Currently enrolled or recently graduated in a Wildlife Management Curriculum or similar field. • Must be able to work 29 hours per week. Amenities Provided: Interns will be provided with housing and utilities while employed, only on areas indicated in the application. Interns will be provided with a hat and t-shirts. Food, linens, other clothing, and any other personal items required to complete the work assignments are the responsibility of the intern. Interns will be compensated at a rate of $7.25 per hour.
