Description
The mission of the East Foundation is to support wildlife conservation and other public benefits of ranching and private land stewardship. Our mission is achieved through research, education, and outreach. The East Foundation was founded in 2007 to promote wildlife conservation, livestock management, ranching heritage, and private land stewardship. The intent of the East family was that the Foundation support research, education, and outreach for sustaining rangeland habitats for both native wildlife conservation and livestock production. The Foundation owns more than 215,000 acres of native South Texas rangeland. Properties include the historic San Antonio Viejo Ranch near Hebbronville, and five additional properties occurring eastward to the Gulf Coast. This internship will be broad and comprehensive, equipping the successful applicant(s) with skills and experience in all facets of the Foundation, including Programs, Field Operations, Ranch Operations, and Administration. The East Foundation intern(s) can expect to assist with the research, education, and outreach program; management of facilities, infrastructure, security, and service; cattle inventory, gathering, and rotations; and in administrative processes.
Qualifications
Juniors, seniors, or recent graduates in Wildlife and Ranch Management, Natural Resources, Animal Science or related degree programs are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will be an honest, self-motivated person with a strong work ethic and a ranching background. Applicants should possess strong people skills, leadership qualities, and communication ability. This position will require working long hours in adverse conditions, and lifting objects greater than 50 lbs. Successful candidates must maintain a valid driver license. Applicants are subjected to background checks. Applicants must be able to use software such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, in addition to basic computer skills.
