- The Department of Biological Sciences at Arkansas State University (A-State) invites applications for a tenure track position in Cell Biology at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, to begin in August 2023. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally funded research program, direct undergraduate and graduate student research, and collaborate with faculty within, and external to, the department. Several avenues for collaborative research at A-State are available with faculty in the Department of Biological Sciences, the Arkansas Biosciences Institute, and the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (Jonesboro). The successful applicant must also provide evidence of a commitment to high-quality teaching, and is expected to contribute to courses in support of emphasis areas in the pre-professional studies, biotechnology, or molecular biosciences programs. The successful candidate will teach courses in cell biology, preferably to include microbiology, and upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of specialization. The ability to teach genetics is also desirable. Service at the department, college, and university level is expected. Faculty members in the Department of Biological Sciences serve approximately 550 undergraduate students and about 50 Ph.D. and Master students across the Biology, Environmental Sciences, and Molecular Biosciences graduate programs. - Qualifications
- Applicants must have a Ph.D. in any area of cell biology or a related subdiscipline. Those working in the areas of neurobiology, cell signaling, or cell physiology are especially encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to individuals with postdoctoral training, previous experience in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and an established research record based on recent peer-reviewed publications.
