- Normandeau Associates, Inc., an employee-owned environmental consulting firm specializing in natural resources management, is seeking taxonomists in our Bedford, NH biological laboratory. These positions will conduct processing of biological samples from surveys related to environmental permitting or monitoring programs. Depending on a candidate’s qualifications and experience, work may include identification of benthic invertebrates, ichthyoplankton, zooplankton, phytoplankton, and/or marine macroalgae. Normandeau’ s Bedford, NH laboratory is primarily focused on samples from marine and estuarine environments. In addition to the identification and enumeration of biological specimens, responsibilities may include the management of project tasks, maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies, and the supervision, training, and quality oversight of junior staff. Requirements: • Travel, overtime, and weekend work may be required periodically, to meet project schedules and needs. • Must be able to work at a microscope for long periods of time. • Must be able to pass an annual occupational health physical. • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. Preferred Qualifications • Demonstrated training and experience in taxonomy. • Advanced degree in relevant scientific field. - Qualifications
- Qualified candidates should have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in marine science, ecology, biology, or a related field. Candidates for these positions must possess excellent attention to detail and will be able to work independently or with a team. Candidates must be able to work comfortably with people of all ages and skill levels. The preferred candidates will have strong communication skills and will be willing to train on a wide variety of laboratory support tasks.
