- The Assistant Professor of Biology with an emphasis in Fisheries Biology position is housed in the Department of Biology and Chemistry within the School of Arts and Sciences, and is a tenure-track position. It is a 9-month position that involves teaching 24 credit hours. Assigned courses may be taught face-to-face in Fayette or at one of our remote locations—or they may be taught online. Teaching · The successful candidate will be expected to teach classes for Biology and Conservation Management majors including introductory classes, Anatomy, Physiology and upper-level classes which might include Fisheries Management, Ichthyology, Ecology, and Stream Ecology. The successful candidate may also teach Biology classes for non-science majors. Assigned courses may be taught face-to-face in Fayette or at one of our remote locations—or they may be taught online. · The successful candidate will be expected to supervise semester-long student capstone projects in the candidate’s area of expertise. · The successful candidate will be expected to stay current with professional trends regarding pedagogy and classroom practices, assessment procedures, and other activities relevant to classroom performance. Service, Scholarship and Professional Development: · The successful candidate will participate in academic matters such as integration of technology into the curriculum, syllabus updating, directing student research, and engaging in professional development opportunities as they arise. · The successful candidate will be a member of the Biology and Chemistry Department and will be expected to participate in Department activities such as department meetings. · The successful candidate will be a member of the School of Arts and Sciences, and will be expected to attend school meetings, and take on other duties, such as committee work at the school or university level. - Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Biology, Fisheries Science, or a related field at the time of appointment is required. Light office duties. Outdoor field studies work as related to assigned courses.
