Our mission is to connect conservation-minded young adults with recreation and volunteer opportunities to foster a new generation of state park stewards. Ambassadors are partnered with a nearby State Park and volunteer at least 40 hours to complete projects in the following areas over the course of six months: Hands-On Service – Supporting the State Park by improving current structures or environments. Examples: building park benches or tables, installing signage, invasive species removal, mending infrastructure, organizing a clean-up event, painting facilities, prairie restoration, repairing bird blinds, trail maintenance Community Outreach – Sharing information about the State Park with the public. Examples: building community partnerships, creating a useful flyer for the visitor center, hosting hikes or programs, speaking at a local school or university, tabling at an outdoor event Social Media – Using various social media platforms to promote the State Park. Examples: blogging about park events, creating park specific hashtags and Facebook frames, developing social media accounts, hosting live trail walk videos, taking 360° photos Facebook: www.facebook.com/texasstateparkambassadors Instagram: www.instagram.com/txstateparkambassadors
Must be a current Texas resident, preferably in the application region. Must be between 18-30 and a high school graduate. Must have reliable transportation. Must be able to fully attend the five-day Ambassador Leadership Training. Must be able to commit 40 hours over six months to complete the required projects.
