Auburn University is seeking a technician that will assist in completing research treatments in hardwood stands located in Barbour County, Alabama. The technician would work with a graduate student to inject herbicide into marked trees in an effort to reduce canopy closure and improve deer and turkey habitat quality within the research stands. While most of the work will be completed with the graduate student, the ability to work independently may also be required on a few days. The position will last from January 4 until the plots are completed, which will be no later than the end of February. Housing will be provided on site.
Previous work applying herbicides is desirable, but the only requirements are a strong work ethic and the ability to spend long days in the field while maintaining a good attitude. Interest in habitat management will also be considered, as this position will provide the opportunity for hands-on experience improving habitat for game species. Interested candidates should send a copy of their resume and brief cover letter to Mark Turner at mat0073@auburn.edu.
