Two positions are available. The first is an RA-supported project to develop a gizzard shad sampling protocol using hydroacoustics and trawls in large highland reservoirs. Student will work collaboratively with Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and would be free to develop project objectives to address additional questions related to forage management or sportfish-prey balance in reservoirs. The second is a TA-supported position where the student would be able to develop a project related to their interests in the field of sportfish management. The student would help TA two lab sections/semester including Fish Management and Fisheries Techniques. Start date for RA position is summer (May or June) 2021. Start date for TA position is Fall 2021 (August)
B.S. (and M.S. for Ph.D. applicants, which are preferred for the RA position) degree(s) in fisheries, biology, or related fields; competitive GPA & GRE scores. Experience with hydroacoustics preferred for RA position, but not required (but student should have strong computer and computational skills). International students should have TOEFL score > 100 and are responsible for getting their own visa.
