- Description
- The Department of Ecology, Evolution & Natural Resources (Rutgers-New Brunswick, NJ) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of urban ecology. We anticipate this individual will bolster the Department’s contribution to the Rutgers University School of Environmental and Biological Sciences initiative in Human-Environment Engagement. We welcome applicants who have an independent and active research program in any area of urban ecology. We are especially interested in candidates that have interests in urban restoration, conservation, and/or management. We welcome candidates whose research is interdisciplinary in nature, integrating the social, cultural, ecological, environmental, and/or natural resources components of urban ecology scholarship and practice. There are many opportunities for collaboration across a broad group of partners on and off campus, including within landscape architecture, human ecology, and public planning and policy. As a tenure-track assistant professor, the successful candidate will be expected to develop a vigorous and externally funded research program. The candidate will also be expected to teach undergraduate courses in ecology and contribute to the curriculum and mentor graduate students within the Graduate Program in Ecology and Evolution. Service to the University, department, and profession is an expectation of this appointment. We encourage applications from women, minorities and, as a campus with a continually growing diverse student body, individuals with a commitment to mentoring underrepresented demographics in the sciences.
- Qualifications
- Candidates should hold a PhD in ecology, evolution, natural resources or a closely related discipline at time of their application. Post-doctoral experience is welcome. To apply, submit research, teaching, and diversity statements; each no more than 2 pages. Provide names and contact information for three references.
