The Houston Parks and Recreation Department is hiring an Urban Garden Manager! This position will coordinate over 13 community gardens around the City of Houston. They will educate gardeners on gardening techniques, ensure that all gardens are well maintained by the community, and help guide the development of new gardens as needed.
The Urban Garden Manager will be a part of the Natural Resources Management Program. This program manages all-natural areas within Houston parks and completes habitat restoration projects in these areas. The program propagates its own native grasses, forbs, and trees for installation into habitat restoration sites. The Urban Garden Manager will assist this effort by overseeing our greenhouse and tree farm facilities.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
Four years of professional experience in community organizational work, resource and referral services, or a closely related field are required.
