The J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Services Intern position was developed to introduce college-level individuals or recent graduates into the field of visitor and guest relations on public lands. This is a temporary position, working an estimated 40 hours per week. The intern will be directly supervised by Supervisor Refuge Ranger Toni Westland. Primary Responsibilities:  Orienting visitors at the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge  Assisting in the management of JNDDNWR Facebook account  Staff the front desk at the Visitor & Education Center when needed  Represent the JNDDNWR at community outreach events  Lead free educational programs offered to public on a wide variety of subjects  Assist in the implementation and planning of interpretative materials and signage  Answer phone calls to the Refuge  Assist in the management of Discover “Ding” app  Assist with any special projects and events within the Visitor Services department  Assist the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society – Friends of the Refuge during events  Other duties as requested
The JNDDNWR is looking for a driven and creative individual with a strong and determined personality able to identify where their skills are needed most. Candidates should be proficient and skilled in Microsoft Office software, social media platforms, and other office software. Graphic design familiarity preferred. Interpersonal skills and a strong passion for wildlife and the environment are required.
