HURON PINES AMERICORPS Huron Pines mission is to enhance Michigan's natural resources to ensure healthy water, protected places, and vibrant communities. Huron Pines is looking to place motivated and aspiring natural resource professionals in six-month positions with various conservation entities across the state, including the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, U.S Fish and Wildlife Service, Land conservancies, Museums, and nonprofits. Positions include Fishery Heritage Volunteer Organizer, Volunteer and Engagment Specialist, Education Programs Developer, Outreach Coordinator, and Volunteer and Stewardship Coordinator. WOLF LAKE STATE FISH HATCHERY VISITOR CENTER, VOLUNTEER & STEWARDSHIP COORDINATOR Located in southwest Michigan near Kalamazoo, the Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery Visitor Center (WLSFHVC) encompasses a wide variety of natural resource education, environmental stewardship, and outdoor recreation opportunities. With 130+ acres, the WLSFHVC provides public and school programs, nature trails, and outdoor opportunities to approximately 30,000 annual visitors. Current programming includes hatchery tours, nature hikes, kids fishing, archery, and more. The Volunteer and Stewardship Coordinator will develop and facilitate volunteer and stewardship activities and will participate in native wildlife monitoring programs, on-site existing programs, and efforts to increase the scope of experience for volunteers. The WLSFHVC is seeking a hard-working, self-motivated, well-organized, and enthusiastic individual with a strong commitment to natural resource education and conservation who can effectively communicate with the public and other staff. The Volunteer and Stewardship Coordinator at Wolf Lake will focus on developing and facilitating volunteer programs including the recruitment, training, implementation, and facilitation of volunteer tasks for a variety of programs and volunteer positions. The coordinator will contribute to providing a safe, inviting, and natural space for visitors to enjoy the great outdoors through trails, interpretive programs, and more. The coordinator will also plan stewardship activities on-site. It is expected that this position will work closely with local conservation groups, the Friends of Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery, and regional DNR staff both on and off-site.
