Description
The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full-time Water Conservation Manager in the Public Works Department. Summary of Duties The ideal candidate must be extremely organized and able to conduct in-depth analysis of water data. In addition, this manager is responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing and monitoring the City’s water conservation programs. This includes strategic policy and program initiatives that achieve short and long-term water conservation goals. This position maintains data and prepares monthly and annual reports related to water use and water conservation. Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment is critical for success in the role, as are high levels of accuracy, timeliness and dependability. We are looking for someone who can evaluate, develop, and implement conservation strategies, policies, ordinances, techniques, best management practices, and programs for effectiveness, cost/benefits, and quality assurance. As a Water Conservation Manager, you will: - Maintain records and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including local and state regulatory reports related to water use and water conservation, such as the annual Water Loss Audit, Water Use Survey and Conservation Report. - Maintain the City’s Groundwater Reduction Plan program data and reporting, including monthly and annual reporting and permit applications. - Develop and responsibly manage the water conservation fund budget. - Establish relationships with community members, community organization representatives and stakeholders that foster support and partnerships to advance the City’s water conservation efforts. - Create and maintain a database of key personnel in commercial entities and major campus locations to provide information on water-related issues and contact in a water related emergency. - Establish and monitor metrics to evaluate the efficacy of water conservation programs and reporting protocols. - Support long-range forecasting, planning, and development of goals and objectives related to the City’s water resources. - Monitor federal, state and local requirements and regulations relevant to water conservation, water resource management, and public water providers. Enhance, amend, or develop City’s programs to assure compliance. - Prepare and deliver presentations on topics related to Sugar Land’s water conservation strategies and programs.
Qualifications
Formal Education: - Bachelor's Degree in Water Resource Planning, Environmental Science, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university required. Relatable Work Experience: - Three (3) years of relevant experience required. - Municipal government experience preferred. - An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Training (License and/or Certification): - Valid Texas Class “C” Driver License - Certification from the American Water Works Association as a Water Conservation Practitioner and licensing as a Water Auditor preferred.
