- This is a temporary position responsible for implementing portions of the Vilas County Aquatic Invasive Species Strategic Plan and other water protection assignments throughout the 2023 summer field season. Duties include Clean Boats Clean Waters inspections; aquatic invasive species surveys and management; signage replacements; aquatic plant community assessments; coarse woody habitat monitoring; water chemistry monitoring; stream monitoring; educational events; water sample prep for lab shipments; youth education; boat and field gear maintenance; & data entry. - Qualifications
- - Completion/progress towards a 4 year degree in natural resources, conservation, water resources, or environmental education - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Comfortable with spreadsheets and databases -Familiar with GPS and GIS - Comfortable working in rough, wet, or hilly terrain as well as in the water (boat, snorkeling) - Ability to operate an outboard motor watercraft and have/obtain WI Boater Safety Certification - See https://www.vilascountywi.gov/departments/administration___officials/employment.php for full list of qualifications
