Description
The Elk County Conservation District is seeking qualified and highly motivated applicants for a full-time position focusing on water resource conservation and education in Elk County. Primary responsibilities of this position include the following; conducting educational programs for students and adults, water quality monitoring and water sampling, watershed assessment, habitat improvement projects, providing technical assistance to local watershed groups, providing technical assistance to municipalities and County residents, and procurement of grant funding for the creation of work plans and strategies to restore and protect surface and groundwater resources. **Interested applicants should submit a resume, references (at least 3), and a cover letter, which includes your salary requirements, to the Elk County Conservation District Manager, Kate Wehler, at kwehler@countyofelkpa.com
Qualifications
Seeking candidates that possess the following: • A 4-year degree from an accredited college, university or technical school, which includes a primary area of study in Natural Resource Management, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Studies, Hydrology, or a closely related field OR any combination of formal education, work experience, and/or volunteer experience that is the equivalent of a 4-year degree. • Experience with watershed management, watershed assessments, habitat improvement projects, water sampling, stream and/or wetland restoration, grant writing and grant project management, and GIS desired. • Requires experience working with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Publisher, etc.) and must be comfortable working with various types of computer and electronic water monitoring equipment. • Experience and ability to conduct educational programs and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to a wide range of individuals and groups is essential. • Ability to traverse difficult terrain in a variety of weather conditions and ability to lift 30 pounds over head. • Candidate must have a positive attitude and be comfortable working alone and with others as a team. • A valid PA driver’s license is required. **Interested applicants should submit a resume, references (at least 3), and a cover letter, which includes your salary requirements, to the Elk County Conservation District Manager, Kate Wehler, at kwehler@countyofelkpa.com
