Wetlands and Waters Biologist

The Wetland and Waters Biologist performs jurisdictional delineations and prepares wetlands and waters permit documentation. Responsibilities may include preparation of Clean Water Act Section 404 and 401 permit applications, California Department of Fish and Wildlife 1600 Streambed Alteration Agreements, Local Coastal Development permits, CRAM assessments, and coordination with clients and regulatory officials. Duties may also include pre-construction, construction, and post-construction monitoring, and producing constraints analysis, preliminary delineation reports, and other wetland documentation. Applicants should have working knowledge of current U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and CDFW protocols. The successful candidate will work with EI’s staff of biologists, archaeologists, environmental analysts, and GIS specialists as well as manage EI’s multidisciplinary teaming partners.
Education and Training:
•B.S. (M.S. preferred) in Biology, Ecology, Wetland Science, Plant Ecology, Botany, or related field
•Wetland Training Institute (WTI) or similar training
•California Rapid Assessment Method (CRAM) practitioner

•Experience having completed multiple permit applications with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and California Department of Fish and Wildlife
•Proficiency in ArcGIS
•Experience and training in wetland sciences and wetland habitat restoration
•USFWS 10(a)(1)(A) Permits and/or CDFW Scientific Collecting Permits preferred

Experience: •3 to 5 years of professional experience as a wetland scientist (or equivalent) in Southern California
•Knowledge of wetland/jurisdictional features such as the WoUS, CRAM assessments, wetland species and the flora/fauna of Southern California
•Working knowledge of ArcGIS or equivalent
•Proven abilities in project management, technical writing, and agency negotiation
•Experience with habitat restoration plans and implementation
