La Roca Range is located 40 miles southwest of Weatherford, TX and is home to animals like whitetail deer, sika, elk, fallow, axis, and blackbuck. We are looking for two dedicated people to take part in our whitetail summer internship program. These positions are available from May 26th through August 18th. Throughout the course of the program, the interns will learn how to bottle-raise and care for fawns. Much of the internship will be spent socializing and monitoring fawns. The intern will also become proficient in tasks like tagging, record keeping, medicating, and monitoring health. Attention to detail and cleanliness are important attributes for excelling in this program. Time off will be offered when possible, but interns should be prepared to work seven days a week. As time permits, interns will also assist in the growing and preparation of fodder for deer consumption as well as the gathering of native browse. They will also help to maintain a flock of chickens, participate in disease control, and weed and harvest in the ranch garden.
The ideal candidate for this position is studying pre-vet, wildlife biology, game management, or other animal related fields. Having prior animal experience is a plus.
