A field technician is needed to assist with wild pig crop damage research in in Dooly County, GA (near Macon). The technician will be performing walking transects to identify damage in corn and peanut fields. Duties will also include remote camera baiting and monitoring, data entry, and possibly processing drone imagery. Opportunities also may exist to assist with drone flights. Some travel (<2 hours) will be required. This position requires physical manual labor in hot, humid weather.
Candidates should possess or be working toward a degree in wildlife management, agriculture, or a related field. Candidates should also be comfortable working as part of a team, as well as handling job duties independently. A large percentage of time will be spent performing surveys alone with no supervision, so the ability to stay self-motivated is essential. Applicants also must have a valid driver's license and good driving record. Preference will be given to applicants who have prior experience collecting field data, performing vegetation surveys, and driving 4X4 trucks and ATV’s. The ability to lift up to 65 pounds repeatedly is required.
