CEMML is a research, education and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University (CSU). CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DoD) and other public lands. This position is to be located at Eglin Air Force Base, FL. Eglin Air Force (AFB) is a United States Air Force base stretching over 724 square miles of land and over 123,000 square miles of water ranges in the Gulf of Mexico. Eglin AFB is located in Okaloosa County in northwestern Florida near the towns of Niceville, Crestview, Fort Walton Beach, and Valparaiso. These cities provide a variety of comfortable homes, schools, recreational facilities, businesses, and access to some of the best beaches in the world.
Incumbent will be a member of the Eglin Wildland Fire Support Module for the U.S. Air Force Wildland Fire Branch based at Eglin AFB, FL. The Wildland Fire Support Module is a high paced program responsible for implementing an average of 150 prescribed burns and responding to 100 wildfires annually on Air Force property throughout Florida and the southeast U.S. This position requires work on active military training ranges with potential risk for unexploded ordnance and other related hazards. In addition, regular travel (up to 15 weeks per year) to other Air Force installations to perform similar tasks throughout the southeast will be required. The position is to be located at Eglin Air Force Base, FL.

•A High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED), or equivalent is required.
•A minimum of two year’s work experience in fire management is required
•The successful candidate must have or be able to obtain a driver’s license prior to start date and a Class B commercial driver’s license within 6 months of employment
•Meet requirements for the National Wildfire Coordinating Group standards for Fire Fighter Type 2, which includes an annual pack test at arduous level and fire line refresher (maintained annually).
•State or Nationally qualified as Tractor Plow Operator (TPOP)
•Qualified as Helicopter Crew Member (HECM) and Plastic Sphere Dispenser Operator (PLDO)
•Experience in the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment in wildland fire and forestry practices is desired (i.e. Tractor Plow, Skid Steer/Masticator, hauling equipment, etc.)
•Experience with prescribed fire and wildfire suppression, familiarity with ecosystems and fire regimes of the southeast is highly preferred.
•Degree in natural resource management or related field
