Description
Summary/Objective Provide management and administrative support to the Wildlife Management Biologist. Essential Job Duties •Provide care for habitats for grassland, woodland, marsh, dove field, food plots, etc. •Perform tree and shrub plantings, prescribed fires, exotic species control, woody vegetation removal, and prairie reconstructions. •Monitor area users and wildlife inventories, wildlife surveys, prairie seed storage inventory, and feral hog strike team. •Compile routine reports, prepare work plans, track accomplishments, etc. •Assist with district budget and monitor expenditures, including bidding for goods and services and contract development. •Maintain MDC owned or rented equipment. •Inspect and maintain boundary, sign, gate, and grazing unit, facility, and shop. Ancillary Job Duties •Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities •Ability to operate ATVs and power tools. •Ability to operate traps and a tranquilizer gun. •Ability to read and interpret topographic and soil survey maps. •Ability to keep focused on understanding, anticipating and responding to the needs of customers. •Ability to define a problem, analyze relevant information, and develop solutions and plans to solve the problem. •Ability to maintain focus and intensity, and remain optimistic and persistent even under adversity. •Ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships. •Ability to handle multiple, diverse tasks of a complex nature and employ good time management techniques. •Ability to work varying hours and shifts. Work Environment •Work is performed in a standard office environment. •Occasionally perform outdoors where hot, cold, wet and/or humid conditions exist. •Occasionally exposed to loud noises which may require the use of hearing protection. Physical Abilities •Move about grounds, both inside and outside of buildings. •Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. •Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information. •Clarity of vision and three-dimensional vision. •Regularly lift up to 5 pounds, correctly lift up to 50 pounds. •Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
