- The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources' Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division is currently seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Wildlife Biologist (Biologist I) position in the Wildlife Section at Perdido River Wildlife Management Area (WMA) located Baldwin County within Alabama. This is a wildlife professional tract position responsible for conducting and overseeing WMA operations to benefit wildlife resources and provide public hunting opportunities. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing WMA public hunting and habitat management programs; preparing management plans and reports for state and federal compliance; implementing land management actions; purchasing supplies and equipment; supervising and participating in construction, maintenance, and repair of WMA buildings, equipment, and roads; providing technical assistance to landowners, non-government organizations, and other agencies on wildlife habitat and conservation issues; administering agricultural leases; providing public education and outreach; assisting with data collection for wildlife monitoring/research projects; cooperating with Conservation Enforcement Officers to ensure rules and regulations for protecting resources, visitors, and facilities are being followed; and supervising WMA personnel.
- Qualifications
- This position is located in Baldwin County within Alabama. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in wildlife management, wildlife biology, biology, wildlife science, wildlife and fisheries, ecology, wildlife ecology, zoology, or wildlife resources. Qualified applicants must also meet the education requirements for certification as an Associate Wildlife Biologist by the Wildlife Society. The Wildlife Society’s requirements for certification as an Associate Wildlife Biologist can be found at http://wildlife.org/. Qualified applicants must obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the Alabama Department of Public Safety during the probationary period.
