Coordinate and encourage wildlife diversity conservation, education, and recreation partnerships, including the development of additional funding sources. Coordinate and provide leadership in the development and delivery of wildlife diversity programs. Implement and maintain operational plan that identifies and prioritizes actions that will enhance and provide additional wildlife-associated recreation opportunities, and that will secure support from this constituency to implement conservation measures needed to maintain wildlife populations and their habitat. Coordinate, develop and implement the Nebraska Natural Legacy Project--the State Wildlife Action Plan for the Game and Parks Commission. Perform related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of biological field research, ecology, and wildlife and ecosystem management. Working knowledge of the development, collection and interpretation of socio-economic and human dimension data and the application of that information to the development of watchable wildlife programs. Ability to secure, develop, assess and maintain wildlife funding sources, grants and budgets. Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively at scientific and general levels.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Post high school coursework/training with major coursework in fish or wildlife management or a closely related field of biological science plus four years experience in fish or wildlife resource management; or master's degree plus two years experience; or Ph.D. plus one year of experience. At least two years of the experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.
