Description
Wildlife Images Rehabilitation & Education Center is dedicated to the preservation of native North American wildlife and Saving Wildlife. Internships are 3 months long. Spring and summer interns will focus on our rehabilitation clinic. Duties include: ● Weighing, cleaning, and feeding of adult and baby raptors, songbirds, and squirrels. ● Observe and assist in medical treatment of species listed above. Treatment may include administering medications and fluids, cleaning wounds, applying wraps and splints, viewing x-rays, and more. ● Summer interns can expect frequent shifts in the baby bird room which will include 3-4 hours of baby bird feeding and oversight of their care. ● Observing and understanding different methods and reasons behind humane euthanasia. ● Rabies vaccinated interns may assist staff in the feeding, cleaning, and treatment of raccoons, foxes, bats, skunks, and other rabies vector species. Non-vaccinated interns may observe. Interns also have the opportunity to work with our 75+ ambassador animals in our mammal, avian, and reptile departments. Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age Must be in school or recently graduated in a related field of study Work may be outdoors and in all weather Must be able to lift 50 lbs. bend, stoop and stand for long periods of time Requires good public speaking ability Ability to work with all ages Able to work independently and as a team Must be punctual, professional and enthusiastic Acceptance into the program is contingent on passing a background check
