Wildcat creek wildlife center is a wildlife rehabilitation facility and hospital located in Delphi Indiana. Annually we admit nearly 2000 wildlife patients of all species. Interns get experience with over 100 species of birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians. This is a totally immersive internship. You will work in a fast-paced, high stress environment, work will be inside and outside and is physically demanding. Interns learn species specific
feeding techniques and diets, animal husbandry enrichment, data entry, admission and triage of new patients. We have a full medical team and onsite surgery suite. Interns will have the opportunity to read radiographs, observe surgeries and be involved with post-op care under the direct supervision of our medical staff. Some of the species you can expect to work with are song birds, woodpeckers, waterfowl, birds of prey, eastern cottontail, opossum, skunk, woodchuck, raccoon, fox, coyote, white tail deer, five species of squirrels, bobcat, mink, and several species of turtles.
This is an unpaid internship. We do have housing available at the wildlife center. We are looking for 2 to 4 interns to start on April 1 or shortly there after. Minimum time commitment is 12 weeks. Work week consist of five 12 hour days with two days off per week.
