Founded in 1982, Volunteers for Wildlife, Inc. is a non-profit wildlife rehabilitation and education center based on Long Island, New York.
Job Summary: The Wildlife Rehabilitation Supervisor is responsible for the daily management of rehabilitation patient care and the staff, volunteers and interns assisting in this department. The Wildlife Rehabilitation Supervisor maintains strong communication with the Directors of Rehabilitation regarding daily management of the wildlife center.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Performs wildlife patient intake, triage and examination
-Oversees and conducts rehabilitative care including treatments, supportive tube feedings, and fluid therapy
-Makes critical assessments of all patients and charts and makes proactive decisions regarding patient care
-Maintains strong communication with Directors of Rehabilitation
-Directs hotline staff to coordinate daily patient intake, patient release and transfer coordination
-Answers Wildlife Hotline as needed
-Provides daily supervision of the rehabilitation team.
-Delegates responsibilities to rehabilitation team including: interns, volunteers, staff.
-Conducts opening and closing responsibilities for the Wildlife Center
-Creates organized written daily updates to rehabilitation team
-Maintains the Center in an exceptionally clean and organized manner at all times
-Strictly follows policies & procedures and enforces all within the rehabilitation team.
-Recognizes and communicates personnel concerns with the Directors of Rehabilitation
-Communicates facility issues or concerns with the Director of Administration
-Maintains communication with the Directors of Rehabilitation on a regular basis regarding wildlife patients
May-October: Per week: three 12-hour shifts of 7 AM-7 PM one 4-hour shift in a flexible time and area of need.
November-April: Per week: four 10-hour shifts per week 7 AM-5 PM

Education and Experience:
-Licensed NYS Wildlife Rehabilitator or comparable license in another state with willingness to obtain NY Wildlife Rehabilitation license.
-Degree Preferred in Animal Science, Biological or Environmental Sciences, Veterinary Sciences or equivalent career experience.
-2+ years of wildlife rehabilitation experience.
-2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
