Description
We are seeking applicants for a Wildlife Technician (April - Aug) in the Upper Snake Region. This position will be focused on assisting with various projects aimed at benefiting Species of Greatest Conservation Need or other non-game species in eastern Idaho. Example projects include: Peregrine Falcon productivity surveys, assistance with American White Pelican monitoring and management, beaver-mediated habitat restoration, assistance with forest carnivore camera surveys (primarily image analysis), nesting trumpeter swan restoration, high alpine multi-species surveys, and amphibian surveys. There will also be limited opportunities to assist with other programs within the region (game management, fish management, habitat). Position will be based out of the Idaho Falls office. Shared government housing will likely be available for the position. Technician may be required to drive personal vehicle from housing to office (~ 20 miles) during the work week. Work week is generally M-F, 40 hours/week. Some weekend work or irregular hours may be required. Some high-elevation backcountry camping will be required. Work vehicle is provided. Independently conduct surveys for non-game and game species. Manage work schedule and data. Effectively communicate with multiple supervisors and co-workers. Safely use 4x4 trucks, trailers, atv's, and possibly small boats.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Wildlife, Biology, or other natural resource field preferred. Exceptions may be made for senior-level undergraduates with outstanding credentials, but must be able to work entire 4.75 month duration. Paid experience with wildlife surveys, management or research preferred. Ability to hike with 40 lb. pack, for greater than 5 miles at high elevation required (with or without reasonable accommodations). How to Apply 1.
